ArtsAdmin: Free exhibition and local community event with refreshments

Canon Barnett Primary School and artist Tim Spooner

Monuments of Tower Hamlets

Community event with food and drinks: Friday 7 June, 4-6pm

Our address: Toynbee Studios, 28 Commercial Street, E1 6AB

Year 2 students from Canon Barnett Primary School in Aldgate East have created an exhibition of miniature sculptures that present an alternative view of Tower Hamlets and our neighbourhood. With artist Tim Spooner, the children visited local places of interest, including Whitechapel Gallery, Brady Arts Centre, St Boltoph Without Aldgate and Gardners Bags (Spitalfield’s oldest family business) to collect forgotten materials such as fluff, scraps of wood and broken toys, and they transformed them into Monuments of Tower Hamlets.

Please join to celebrate the exhibition, look around the exhibition, speak to our staff and enjoy some food and drinks. We look forward to meeting you!

The exhibition is part of 2 Degrees Festival, Artsadmin’s biennial festival of art and environment, and is supported by Tower Hamlets Council. The exhibition is open 4-9 June, 12pm-8pm, until 6pm on Thursday and Sunday
