Aldgate Connect BID is proud to support the 2026 edition of the Pink Jukebox Trophy, bringing together dancers from across the globe for the long running annual same-sex Ballroom and Latin dance competition.
Running for 30 years, The Pink Jukebox Trophy is the world’s longest‑standing same‑sex equality dance competition, entirely driven and supported by its community. The event stemmed from the first Ballroom and Latin dance classes to break away from traditional gender expectations around leading and following. These classes became part of the Pink Jukebox, which continues today as a social Ballroom and Latin club welcoming LGBTQIA+ dancers and their friends.
Held right here in Aldgate, the competition returns to the stunning Great Hall at Bishopsgate Institute this Saturday 21st March.
Bishopsgate Institute offered the Pink Jukebox a home nearly 10 years ago and took in the Trophy event during the pandemic, pioneering an online format, and continuing to co-host the in-person event ever since.
The Trophy weekend has become one of the standout events in the Bishopsgate Institute calendar, taking place over the third weekend of February, within LGBTQIA+ History Month. The programme includes a dedicated practice session for competitors on Friday evening, followed by the full day‑and‑evening competition on Saturday, and a free after‑party on Sunday. Dancers travel from across the world to take part, representing every level from beginner to elite, cheered on by an supportive audience and a team of volunteers.
This year, we’re excited to be supporting the event and proud to play a part in this equality driven celebration.
