Since launching in 2022, the Aldgate Connect Community Fund has helped to support some truly impactful community projects across Aldgate. The Fund has provided vital funding and resources to a total of 19 projects, driving positive change to our local neighbourhood and communities. So far, the Fund has benefited over 2,700 people across Aldgate.

Our 2025/26 edition of the Fund supported 4 impactful community projects, contributing a total of £15,280, and sought to address and focus on a range of community needs and projects which:

  • Aim to address climate change and how our urban environment needs to adapt to support a greener and more sustainable world.
  • Support people to enter good work and education in order to become a cohesive and prosperous neighbourhood.
  • Develop skills through upskilling, skills sharing and training local people into employment.
  • Support mental health and wellbeing through sport.

Discover the incredible charities and organisations we’re supporting this year:

BeauBeau’s Music Club, BeauBeau’s

BeauBeaus is a grassroots space offering creative, inclusive programming in the post-pandemic era. Open to all, they proudly serve a diverse community, attracting many Afro-Caribbean participants through support by Nigerian-British co-founder Olaolu Slawn. Representation matters in a sector where 90% of the workforce is White, and only 23% of Black Britons attend live music events compared to 42% of White peers (PEC, 2024). Access gaps by race and class have widened since 2020. BeauBeaus Music Club will work to close these gaps through early engagement, positive role models and culturally relevant programming, fostering belonging, representation, skill and aspiration.

Civil Society Pathways Fair: Building a Brighter Community, University Centre at David Game College (UCDG)

DGHE is an educational institution in Aldgate which offers different resources and information to enhance employability of students. Employability and empowering individuals are the focus of their professionals, lecturers and career advisors. They run different workshops, trainings including those focused on AI, and one-to-one sessions to enhance professional development. We would like to share our knowledge and resources to support people to enter good work and education in order to become a cohesive and prosperous neighbourhood. DCDG will be bringing together local employers, educational institutions and community organisations to provide valuable resources, guidance, and opportunities for individuals seeking good work and education.

Employability & Progression Project, Providence Row

Based in Aldgate, the Employability and Progression Project supports homeless individuals facing complex barriers to employment and education. Clients will receive an assessment (IAG) to understand their learning and employability needs, including past training/work experience, and barriers from work; online Digital Skills and Financial Health courses; CV writing and interview technique workshops; accredited training in Food Hygiene, Construction/labouring, CCTV security, Customer Services and First Aid; and additional in-house training, including a 10-week Catering and Gardening trainee schemes (including work placements), 7-week work-readiness scheme, and 8-week Peer Mentor programme.

ReCreate in Aldgate, Aldgate Solar Power

Aldgate Solar Power will partner with a school in Aldgate to deliver the sustainability-oriented ‘ReCreate’ to their pupils. Over five weeks, drama facilitators will engage with children on the local and global effects of climate change, whilst showcasing technological and social solutions. The programme will incorporate key areas of the curriculum with Augusto Boal’s methodology of ‘Theatre of the Oppressed’. Responding through play and exploration, pupils will work creatively with their classmates, and in so doing learning listening and collaboration skills. They will be encouraged to think innovatively and supported to showcase their ideas to their peers.

We are pleased to announce we will be launching the next edition of the Aldgate Connect Community Fund later this year, and are excited to support more projects.
