The Aldgate in Winter Festival returns to Aldgate for its seventh year with another incredible line up of live music, performance, dance, and the Lantern Parade that will once again light up the streets of Aldgate. This year, we have a fantastic range of volunteering opportunities, and we invite you to take part in this December’s celebrations. Read on to find out how you can get involved in this year’s fun!

The festival will take place on Friday 8th December, and festivities will take place from 3:30 – 7:30pm. Returning for 2023, the much-anticipated Lantern Parade invites local primary schools to spend the Autumn term creating a great mix of lanterns to be displayed in the parade. We’ll also see the return of the Community Feast, a free event offering up hot meals and encouraging togetherness in the community. This year, we’re looking for volunteers to assist with the coordination and final development of the parade, as well as assistance at the community feast.

What does volunteering involve?
Supporting Aldgate in Winter Festival as a volunteer will involve tasks such as:

• Working with children and young people (you are not required to have a DBS check as someone with a DBS check will be supervising)
• General arts & crafts
• Carrying/Moving lanterns from one location to another (up to 15 mins walk within Aldgate)
• Handing out packaged hot meals (if you’re selected for the community feast. Please note, you do not require previous hospitality or food health & safety experience to volunteer)
