Heads up: next week is @londongalleryweekend, and Heads up: next week is @londongalleryweekend, and Aldgate is ready to represent. Oh yes. This is the world's largest event of its kind; it's free, open to all, and is a unique chance to explore and celebrate London's incredible art scene. So, what's our route?

We'll be starting at @_ai_gallery to challenge the notions of East and West, before a leisurely stroll to @yamamotokeikorochaix to check out some of the finest contemporary art from global emerging and mid-career artists. We'll be finishing up at @public.gallery for a little cross-cultural exchange from emerging international talent.

Call us seasoned culture vultures, but we can't wait.

Image credits: 'Roots, Realms, and Reverie', a two-person exhibition of @woojinstudio and @mollyburrowsart, presented by @_ai_gallery. Running 22 May to 5 July.

Have you ever noticed this macabre fellow nestled Have you ever noticed this macabre fellow nestled in the wall of St Botolph’s? The figure you’re looking at is Robert Dow.

Dow was a Master of the Merchant Taylors who died in 1612, aged 90 yet still “full of days”. He gave a great deal to charity in his lifetime, as the inscription will tell you in great detail.

But Robert Dow is not the only figure immortalised in stone within St Botolph’s walls. Do you know the rest?
