Have you ever noticed this beautiful commemorative totem outside @dsq_london ? It is the second iteration of this memorial; here in remembrance of three City of London Police Officers who lost their lives in the line of duty on 16 December 1910.

Known as the ‘Houndsditch Murders’, this incident continues to be one of the largest multiple murders of on-duty officers carried out in Great Britain. Sergeant Bentley, Sergeant Tucker and Constable Choat were shot whilst trying to prevent a jewel robbery, and two other officers sustained life-altering injuries. This incident was a trigger for the Sidney Street Siege of 1911.

“The sacrifice and bravery of these officers will never be forgotten, their exemplary service to the City of London Police and community they served.”
