🧶 COMMUNITY KNITTING WORKSHOP 🧶 Join us on 13 and 🧶 COMMUNITY KNITTING WORKSHOP 🧶

Join us on 13 and 26 June for a wonderful community knitting workshop with @projects_ldnmetarts, taking place at the new Petticoat Lane Pocket Park outside @ethicalcaffeine.

These drop-in sessions will run from 12pm to 3pm, bringing together East London knitters in a creative, collaborative setting. It doesn't matter if you've never knitted before – you'll the fundamentals and how to make a coaster, bookmark or coffee sleeve.

Did you know that Aldgate is home to one of the mo Did you know that Aldgate is home to one of the most extensive collections on LGBTQIA+ history, politics and culture in the UK? The @bishopsgateinstitute library holds over 10,000 LGBTQIA+ titles, covering academia, biographies, fiction, poetry, journals and pamphlets.

But there’s more to this iconic building than what’s on its shelves…

Here are 3 facts you might not know:

1. It was “erected for the benefit of the public” in 1894, with the motto “I never stop learning”, and was designed by Charles Harrison Townsend, who was also the architect for the Whitechapel Gallery.

2. The founder, Reverend William Rogers, took over the parish of St Botolph-without-Bishopsgate in 1863 to discover that a pot of charitable donations had been accumulating in the City for over 500 years. He used these funds to realise his dream of an adult educational scheme.

3. The building has been used as a filming and photography space for famous faces, hosting the likes of Laufey, Ralph Fiennes and Harry Styles.
