Dates: Friday 14th & Friday 21st November
Times: 9.00am – 11.00am
Location: Online (Zoom)

The City of London Corporation is committed to reducing the tragic and avoidable loss of life through local suicide prevention measures. In support of these aims, we have partnered with Bridgewatch is offer two Suicide Prevention Awareness sessions – taking place on 14th and 21st November – which will help provide the tools to start difficult conversations in a careful and sensitive way.

These short, interactive and practical City-specific Suicide Prevention Awareness sessions are delivered by Samaritans volunteers, in collaboration with the City’s Suicide Prevention Lead from Public Health. They are aimed at anyone working in a City organisation, particularly those with responsibility for HR, facilities or security.

Making sure that those who need support are able to access it in a timely manner is crucial to being able to manage common mental health issues most effectively and before they become more severe. The skills learnt in the Suicide Prevention Awareness sessions will help you to identify and assist those in crisis.

Aside from supporting crisis awareness training, Bridgewatch provide volunteering opportunities to help identify and support those who are at risk of self-harm and suicide by listening, understanding, talking, and working with a team to provide the necessary support to help them.

Speakers:

Alison Hooper, London Samaritans
Steph Peckham, London Samaritans
David Waugh, London Samaritans
Claire Giraud, City of London Corporation and London Borough of Hackney Public Health Team
