Funded Internship Scheme for SMEs with Queen Mary’s University

Queen Mary’s University (QMU) are offering a funded internship scheme for local small & medium businesses. Benefit from a new ideas and knowledge from the next generation of workers, with an internship which will be financially supported by the university directly.

QMU Funded Internship Scheme

The scheme is aimed at financially supporting small and medium sized businesses (under 250 employees) and social enterprises to employ a student or recent graduate from various backgrounds on a short-term internship. Interns are a great way for businesses to build brand presence and benefit from up to date skills, knowledge and ideas, with part or full funding to help with the costs.

  • QMU are looking for businesses to provide a student/graduate level project and commit to hosting a student or graduate part-time for up to 70 hours (equivalent to 2 weeks full time) or part time (for example, 10hrs a week for 7 weeks).
  • You will receive a donation (VAT exempt) from QMU, based according to the length of the internship giving the student or graduate a salary London Living Wage, at a total of £773.50. Employers can offer a higher salary to the student or graduate at their discretion.
  • You will need to arrange for the student intern to be on your payroll and pay the PAYE costs.
