Have Your Say: Ibex House Planning Application

Celebrating one of Aldgate’s most prized architectural assets

Dukelease and Henderson Park have set out plans to refurbish and enhance Ibex House, the Art Deco building at the corner of Portsoken Street and Minories, to secure its long-term future as a destination for business, improve energy efficiency, accessibility and restore the building to its former glory.

As part of the plans a Learning Gallery with cafe would be created on the ground floor, providing visitors, tourists and students with access to exhibitions and library materials relating to history and architecture. In turn it would maximise Ibex House’s cultural and social impact in the Square Mile and meet the City’s Corporation Destination City aspirations to increase the Square Mile’s appeal to new audiences, with benefits for the wider economy as a result.

Additionally, the proposals include public realm improvements to access and materiality of the surrounding area and Portsoken Gardens. Complimenting the objectives of the Public Realm Vision and Strategy report produced by Aldgate Connect.

The submission documents can be found here – www.planning2.cityoflondon.gov.uk – and search using the reference number: 21/00793/FULMAJ. Alternatively, for further information and to get in touch with the team, please visit ibexhouseconsultation.co.uk.
