Alongside the rest of the country, we are deeply saddened by the passing of Her Late Majesty The Queen and we send our condolences to her family. For 70 years, Her Late Majesty has been a symbol of inspiration and dignity and has reigned with supreme grace. This is a seismic moment for our country.
London will now become the focal point for the forthcoming funeral, and the arrangements for this will have a significant impact on the capital for the foreseeable future with travel and normal business activity restricted.
A number of important events will be held in the City in the coming days. We are in regular communication with partners at The City of London Corporation, City Police, The Metropolitan Police, other local authorities and statutory bodies so will serve as a primary conduit of verified information to our business community
A Service of Reflection will be taking place at St Paul’s Cathedral today, Friday 9th September, at 1800hrs. It is anticipated that road closures will be implemented at 1000hrs this morning around the St Paul’s Cathedral footprint. There will be barriers surrounding St Paul’s Churchyard which will be closed entirely to pedestrians. Road closures will be in place at the following locations restricting access to all vehicle traffic:-
These road closures are expected to be in place until such time as the service concludes. We are unable to give a specific time at the moment as to the lifting of the road closures but we understand that the duration of the Service will be one hour. There are expected to be large crowds in the area and this may affect the lifting of the road closures.
There will be a further significant event held in the City area around the Bank junction on Saturday 10th September and a further communication will be sent shortly regarding the additional road closures that will be in place for that event.
We will play our part in supporting partners across London, and our business communities, helping to ensure mourners can pay their respects and we can all celebrate the life of a remarkable monarch and lady.
