The new Petticoat Lane Pocket Park inspired by the everyday ritual of meeting for coffee is now in place in Aldgate, as part of the London Festival of Architecture 2026.
Commissioned by Aldgate Connect BID and designed by OUT Architecture, Macchiato transforms an underused corner of Petticoat Lane into a welcoming public space for gathering, resting and connecting.
To celebrate Aldgate’s newest open space, we’ll be hosting an exciting series of events at the Pocket Park, designed to activate the space and give everyone the opportunity to enjoy it.
Dates: Thursday 11th June, Thursday 18th June, and Thursday 2nd July
Time: 12-2pm
Grab a bite from Petticoat Lane Market, sip on some of Colombia’s best coffee, and enjoy lively Colombian folk music over your lunch break.
The performances are free and no booking is required, so take a seat (or whip on your dancing shoes) for a well-deserved break from your desk.

Join us and London Metropolitan University for a series of knitting workshops to celebrate Worldwide Knit in Public Day!
Using locally sourced Ankara Wax fabrics, these sessions will bring together East London knitters in a creative, collaborative setting, at the new Pocket Park. Attendees will learn the fundamentals of knitting to help you make a coaster, bookmark, or coffee sleeve.
No experience is necessary, and sessions are free, but we encourage you to please register.
