The Postcards from Aldgate Exhibition is live!

Join us in the showcase of  the lovingly designed postcards and well-wishing messages created by members of the community and distributed to the residents of Aldgate. The exhibition is taking place every evening from Monday 8th – Sunday 14th January from 4:30(sunset)-10:00pm in the form of wall projection in Mallon Gardens.

Date: Every day Monday 8th – Sunday 14th January, 4:30(sunset)-10:00pm
Location: Mallon Gardens, Toynbee Hall, 28 Commercial St, London E1 6LS

Across December 2023, the local community took part in creative workshops to lovingly designing postcards through a range of creative methods including stamping, painting, embroidery, collaging and drawing, which were then delivered and distributed to local residents of Aldgate to spread some festive cheer. Each postcard maker was photographed with their postcard, and these photographs have formed the Postcard from Aldgate Exhibition.

These sessions were delivered in partnership with London Metropolitan University: with the creative lead Mrs Blues and photography students Ro and Albany. With thanks to The White Chapel Building, St Botolph without Aldgate and Central London Alliance for hosting & contributing the post box for the project.

To mark the event we will be making a donation to the Food for Aldgate Foodbank which operates just outside, to support the most vulnerable in our society. Food for Aldgate are always on the look out for donations and volunteers, find out more here: aldgateconnect.london/foodforaldgate.

We hope you enjoy the exhibition and we wish you a Happy New Year 2024!
